In his final days, Kevin McClain, a 56-year-old man from Iowa, USA, faced the heartbreaking reality of being diagnosed with lung cancer. Living in his car rather than a home, McClain had one last wish before his imminent departure from this world – to bid farewell to Yuty, his beloved female dog and sole family.
Despite being admitted to the hospital, McClain’s dream was fulfilled through the efforts of hospital staff and volunteers. On a poignant day, Yuty visited the hospital to be by her owner’s side.
Despite months passing since McClain’s arrival at the hospital, Yuty remembered him well. She curled up beside McClain, gazing at him with affectionate eyes, reminiscent of the moments they spent together in the car. Whether comprehending that this was their final meeting or not, Yuty tenderly licked McClain’s hands and face before quietly leaving the room. Soon after their reunion, McClain passed away.
Fortunately, Yuty found a new adopter and is now embarking on a new chapter of her life with a new family.
Today, pets provide companionship, emotional support, and contribute to reduced feelings of loneliness and stress. They also play a significant role in fostering high self-esteem and positive emotions, especially for children.
However, coexistence between humans and animals is not always successful, and in some cases, the relationship does not work out. When a committed family finds themselves in such situations, adoption becomes their last resort.
