Facing the Serpent’s Lair: A Gripping Saga of a Dog’s Fight for Survival
In a harrowing encounter, a pregnant pitbull named Nong Horm valiantly fought a venomous king cobra that had slithered into her owner’s house in Pathum Thani, central Thailand. Tragically, despite her courageous efforts, Nong Horm was bitten and killed by the snake. The 2-year-old dog, in the late stage of pregnancy with approximately 10 puppies, was discovered lifeless beside the 1.22-meter-long snake on February 18th.
In a heart-wrenching video, the owner, Buncherd Praprom (35 years old), sat beside the gasping Nong Horm, revealing multiple bite marks around her muzzle inflicted by the deadly snake. The incident unfolded when Suriyon Chanthakhet, Buncherd’s brother, heard Nong Horm’s frantic barking and rushed outside, only to arrive too late.
Suriyon, filled with regret, blamed himself for not being able to save the loyal family dog. He shared, “Nong Horm was the best-beloved pet our family had ever taken care of.
It was very loyal, even willing to sacrifice its life for us.” The family chose to honor Nong Horm by burying her in the backyard garden.
