Left Alone in Lara on November 5th, Benki faced abandonment, blindness, and the tragic loss of his right hind leg.
Benki also showed signs of possible sexual abuse, a sad occurrence often seen in male dogs from puppy farms or mills. In these operations, mother and father dogs are abandoned when they are no longer considered financially valuable.
In Benki’s case, they went so far as to blind him to prevent him from running away. Tragically, he endured further cruelty when something struck him, resulting in the heartbreaking loss of his right hind leg.
Fortunately, X-rays revealed no significant internal injuries, but Benki suffered severe emotional trauma, which is a major concern.
Not accustomed to blindness, he quickly became disoriented and wailed intensely. The vet attempted to soothe him by engaging in a lot of comforting conversation.
The good news is that he has developed into a clever and intelligent dog.
After a week in the refuge, his emotional state improved significantly. Within approximately 10 days of training, he learned to determine the direction of speech.
He is now a perfectly normal dog. Benki has gained weight due to a lack of exercise, but his foster is dedicated to making him feel secure. They encourage him to move up and down the shelter’s stairs and provide him with boundless love.
He is still in the process of finding a new permanent and loving home for him.
