For over six years, Jake, a wonderful dog, endured unbearable pain as his first owners neglected a massive salivary tumor on his face. Unable to move his head and constantly in distress, Jake’s elderly parents overlooked his deteriorating condition. The rescue organization, Long Way Home, reveals that while Jake’s older family loved him, they failed to seek veterinary care when his face began to swell.
According to the owners, they believed Jake had been dealing with the salivary tumor for six years, initially attributing it to a snake bite. Despite his well-behaved nature, excellent training, and ability to get along with other dogs, Jake’s owners kept him indoors.
Recently found roaming in rural Texas, Jake caught the attention of Cribs for Canines, an organization that aimed to convince his family to relinquish ownership so that he could receive the necessary medical care from a veterinarian. Jake is now undergoing treatment in Waco, where he has already undergone a significant fluid removal procedure.
The commendable staff at the Texas Animal Medical Center in Waco, led by Dr. Lide and his associates, has been providing dedicated care for Jake. For the first time in six years, Jake can move his head freely, marking a significant improvement in his condition.
