Isumu, a dog, had never experienced love.
He had been abandoned by the side of the road near a shelter, left to fend for himself.
Each step caused him immense pain; his nails were too long. The chains that once held him left a thick, bloody bandage around his neck. Rabies sores covered his body, and he emitted an unsettling scent of decaying meat.
Despite all his suffering, Isumu still had some life in his eyes and the capacity to feel fear, humility, and hope. He prayed to God for an end to his agony.
A shelter volunteer found Isumu and took him to the shelter, where he received medical care and a comfortable bed. Isumu was bathed and cleaned up, fed, and watered. For the first time in a long while, he was shown love and care.
On day 10, Isumu began to feel better. His wounds started to heal, and new fur began to grow. His eyes sparkled with happiness, and the foul odor disappeared.
On day 80, a loving family hoping to adopt a dog visited the shelter. The moment they saw Isumu, they fell in love.
They knew he was the right dog for them, sensing the grit and resilience beneath his tough exterior. Isumu’s new family welcomed him into their home and showered him with affection.
