It all began when a little dog led rescuers to a man lying on the ground with a cane at his side, clearly injured. Despite the rain, the furry girl never left her owner’s side. She was unwavering in her devotion.

When the ambulance arrived, the officers lifted the man and placed him into the vehicle. The dog, determined to stay with her beloved owner, jumped in too, climbing onto the medical bed and leaning on his chest. The paramedic allowed it initially but had to remove her since transporting dogs inside the ambulance was not permitted.

Milagro decided to help. She took Chiquita to the clinic where she works to vaccinate and clean her up, as she practically lived on the street. Milagro also did blood tests to ensure Chiquita was in good health.

It was a stroke of luck that Chiquita’s path crossed with two kind people who cared enough to investigate and help both her and her owner.

Dogs are the noblest and purest beings. It breaks our hearts that both the good man and the furry girl do not have a decent roof to call home. We hope that by sharing this story, they will receive the help they deserve.
