Chester, a saddened dog, recently lost his best friend and owner, Mehmet Ilhan, 79, who passed away in a hospital in Bursa, Turkey. Despite the heartache, Chester’s loyalty proved eternal. Mehmet’s son, Ali, shared that their bond was unique, especially due to Mehmet’s paralysis. During Mehmet’s final days in the hospital, Chester even stopped eating.
Upon Mehmet’s return home for the final rites, Chester steadfastly refused to leave his side. In a surprising turn of events, the dog led the procession to transport Mehmet’s coffin to a nearby burial site. Ali expressed his surprise, saying, “I couldn’t hold him until my father was taken to the grave and buried.”
While Ali initially brought Chester home after the funeral, the devoted dog continued to return to his owner’s grave. For the last five days, Chester has consistently visited Mehmet’s grave, as reported by cemetery workers. Ali discovered this routine when he decided to follow the dog one day.
