Belinha, the adorable puppy, has been a devoted companion to her owner, Telma Maria, for the past four years. Despite their time together being recently cut short, Belinha continues to display unwavering affection for her late owner.
Maria, a resident of Brazil, recently lost her battle with cancer earlier this month. Even as Maria’s health declined, Belinha remained steadfast by her side, providing comfort with her reassuring presence.
Dionsio Neto, Maria’s son, expressed on the internet, “My mother said she was her nurse. Belinha was the most loyal companion.” Belinha had played a significant role in Maria’s life, and it was only natural that she would be present at her funeral. Sitting solemnly alongside other family members, Belinha seemed to grasp the solemnity of the mournful gathering.
What happened next left a profound impact on Maria’s son. Belinha surprised everyone by staying by Maria’s side throughout the rest of the service, mirroring her steadfast presence when Maria was alive. Neto felt compelled to capture these poignant moments, emphasizing, “Animals are unconditional love.”
Even after the ceremony, Belinha continued to mourn, frequently expressing her sorrow for Maria’s absence. In an attempt to provide comfort, Neto and some family members decided to take Belinha to see where her closest companion now rests—a visit that seemed to bring solace to the grieving pup.
Breaking free from her leash at the cemetery, Belinha raced straight to Maria’s grave, despite not having been there during the burial. Neto was once again moved, witnessing the unbroken bond between his mother and her loyal dog. He shared with the newspaper Estadão, “Even in death, my mother teaches me that love is not limited to people. My mother and Belinha show that animal love is more powerful than many people believe.”
